According to Colnago's official website, the V5Rs is the latest model in the V series, and bills itself as "the ultimate all-round racing bike", designed for professional use.

Lightweight
This is the lightest frame Colnago has ever produced: just 685 grams (raw frame, ready for painting), a 12.5% reduction on its predecessor.

Aerodynamics
The V5Rs features a 13% smaller frontal area than the previous model, with slimmer profiles for improved aerodynamic performance. A narrower head tube also helps reduce air resistance.

Ride and handling
The bike features a completely redesigned, lighter and more precise fork, with tire clearance enlarged to 32 mm for improved grip and handling.

Weight and construction

Frame kit weight: The V5Rs is the lightest frame Colnago has ever produced. In size 485, ready to paint, it weighs 685 g, while the complete kit (frame + fork) weighs 1,027 g, a saving of 146 g over the V4Rs.

Carbon structure: Constructed with new layup techniques and a revised carbon layup, the frame manages to reduce weight without compromising the true riding rigidity of the V4Rs, guaranteeing explosive power transfer and exemplary stability.

Crankset housing: The frame uses a BSA threaded housing, which is easier to maintain and helps to lighten the overall weight.

Aerodynamics

Drag reduction: The V5Rs' frontal area is reduced by 13% compared to the V4Rs, or 250 cm². Reworked tube shapes and a narrower head tube reduce air resistance and save watts.

Power savings: In wind tunnel tests with a fully equipped dummy, the V5Rs requires 9 watts less to maintain a speed of 50 km/h than the V4Rs. Its aerodynamic performance rivals that of many WorldTour aero bikes.

Handling and geometry

Forks: New lighter, stiffer and more precise forks.

Tires compatibility: Nominal clearance up to 32 mm, allowing the fitting of wider Tires for better grip, increased stability and greater comfort on rough roads.

Geometry: Slightly revised compared to the V4Rs, with slightly more open head tube and seat tube angles, for a more forward-facing position. Two fork rake options (47 mm and 43 mm) optimize handling depending on frame size.

Seatpost: New proprietary aerodynamic seatpost, slimmer and more streamlined than that of the V4Rs. Available with 15 mm or 0 mm offset (sold separately).
