Not only is it what the rider feels and sees the whole way, it's also one of the bike's main leading edges, which can make a huge difference to the aerodynamics of the setup. The integrated Black Inc Barstem handlebar and Stem offer huge aerodynamic advantages over a traditional round handlebar and separate Stem configuration, as well as being exceptionally comfortable.
The fact that our Barstem is available in 19 different sizes means that it's virtually a customized carbon cockpit for every rider. By choosing carbon fiber specifically because it is exceptionally resistant to torsional forces while offering a level of vertical compliance, the integrated Black Inc Barstem can withstand the toughest sprint grips without allowing road vibrations to fatigue hands and arms.
The Barstem is compatible with both traditional external cable routing and modern internal routing options. The ability to route cables internally greatly enhances the aerodynamic properties of a cockpit that has already been specifically designed to be aerodynamic and comfortable. The tops have been shaped to provide platform-like support for the hand, reducing the likelihood of hand fatigue on long climbs. The drops have been slightly flared to increase comfort and control when sprinting or descending. The drops also have a strategically variable radius to offer greater comfort and ease of hand movement for multiple positions over varied terrain.
