The right fit
What exactly is the point of a good bike fitting ? To get the most out of the machine between your legs.
Firstly, by avoiding injuries, numbness, and other unpleasantness, which could force you to stop riding and swap your rides visits to the physical therapist. But also to optimize your performance.
In short, it allows you to go faster while being more comfortable.
A bike may be the right size for you, perform well in theory, and generally feel comfortable to ride. However, this does not necessarily mean that it is perfectly adjusted for you.
In fact, the effects of poor fitting generally fitting over time. It is the repetition of the movement, spread over several hours (days, weeks, months, etc.), that ultimately exposes the poor fit. And then the damage is done.
For example? Knee pain. Numb feet or hands. Saddle pain. Sensitive back.
A good fitting that your position is optimal in order to distribute the contact points on the bike in an ideal way, adjust your posture to your flexibility, and compensate for the particularities of your anatomy.

If all bodies were identical, the fitting rushed, as is too often the case in generalist shops when you buy a new bike.
But all it takes is a lack of flexibility in one hip, a slightly shorter leg, flat feet, or a lack of joint flexibility for what was, in theory, a good fit to become a source of injuries, some of which can be very difficult to treat. See articles.
Performance
Fit is also a matter of musculoskeletal efficiency. This even affects experienced cyclists who, out of habit, had adopted, for example, a saddle height that penalized them and prevented them from developing the maximum power they are capable of.
At Cartel, we are fortunate to benefit from the expertise of Bruno Langlois, a kinesiologist who knows a great deal about how the human body functions during exercise.
He can guide you and adjust your bike so that it becomes an extension of yourself, perfectly attuned to your natural movements, allowing you to perfect your form and reach your full potential.
