BMC x Vélo Cartel

BMC x Vélo Cartel

A new range of bikes has been added to our offering at Vélo Cartel we are particularly pleased to now be dealers for Swiss manufacturer BMC.

This is undoubtedly a prestigious addition to our range, enabling us to offer electric bikes, city bikes, and mountain bikes. Regardless of their function, these bikes are all the product of brilliant minds who have been working tirelessly for decades to advance cycling technology so that it can benefit from the same advances as aeronautics, automotive, and electronics.

The result is products that are always at the cutting edge, both in terms of their construction and their design, which is always sleek, deliberately angular, and instantly recognizable.

The birth of BMC

The company name is simply an acronym: Bicycle Manufacturing Company. A name that perfectly represents the origins of the company, which initially focused on manufacturing bicycles for other brands, including Raleigh.

BMC began producing its own bikes in 1994, but it was with the arrival of Andy Riis at the helm that the company experienced its greatest growth. Riis wanted to create "the Porsche of bikes," and he had a professional team, Phonak, to test the designs that sprang from the minds of his engineers.

The company invests heavily in research and development, sets up its own laboratories, conducts dozens of tests of all kinds, and develops expertise in carbon molding, which often gives it a competitive edge.

A list of achievements in gold, yellow, and rainbow colors

For top-level athletes, victory sometimes comes down to tiny details. That's why BMC's partnership with the best cyclists has always been so important: they know how to spot the slightest flaw and actively contribute to the pursuit of excellence, which is a constant quest for manufacturers of high-end bikes.

Advice that benefits those who give it, as BMC has been collecting medals, trophies, and prestigious jerseys for 10 years. Although the company enjoyed its first professional successes with Phonak, it was with the professional team that bears its name that it achieved its first major triumph: in 2011, Cadel Evans won the Tour de France riding a BMC bike.

Subsequently, the honors came thick and fast, almost piling up as they were so numerous. Greg Van Avermaet won (among other things) an Olympic gold medal in Rio and Paris-Roubaix. Rohan Dennis won a world championship in the time trial. Julien Absalon collected national and world titles in the mountain bike World Cup. Corrine Abraham, Taylor Phinney, Ralph Näf, and Thor Hushovd are also among the athletes for whom BMC's cutting-edge technology made all the difference.

Enough to make any major manufacturer blush.

Latest specimens from Impec Lab

In addition to recently revamping its Speedfox mountain bike platform to improve the balance between agility, responsiveness, and suspension flexibility, BMC has recently launched a gravel bike. The URS is designed for slippery, broken, rocky, dirt, and even root-covered surfaces. Its geometry allows you to feel in complete control on descents and to ride on trails that would normally be reserved for mountain bikes. At the rear, an elastomer component absorbs vibrations and makes your long rides more enjoyable.

Another new addition to Cartel is BMC's line of electric-assist city bikes. The Alpenchallenge range features Shimano battery and gear systems, and their carbon frames are designed with the same attention to detail as the rest of the BMC fleet. Mountain bike enthusiasts won't be left out either, as the Trailfox range also features a high-quality assist motor.
